  • Brooklyn Army Terminal has a pier right by the water. 12 minutes away from Wall Street by the NYC Ferry, BAT is the perfect mix of urban brutalism and a beautiful view of the water.

    Situated on the waterfront, BAT is easily accessible—by train, bus, car, and NYC Ferry—to Manhattan and the other boroughs, major highways, and metro-area airports.

    Public Transportation

    NYC Ferry: Take NYC Ferry’s South Brooklyn or Rockaway routes to Sunset Park.

    Subway: N and R lines to 59th Street in Brooklyn. Exit the subway on 58th Street. Walk west on 58th Street one block toward the elevated expressway and the waterfront. Continue down 58th Street until you arrive at the waterfront.

    Bus: The B11 stops at 58th Street and 1st Avenue. The waterfront is just a couple minutes walk from there. The B37 Bus stops at 58th Street and 3rd Avenue. Walk west on 58th Street three blocks toward the elevated expressway and the waterfront.

    Parking

    There is free public parking available on Pier 4 for BAT visitors and Ferry riders. Parking may be occasionally limited due to special events. Please check back here for special pier closures.

  • Soprano

    Kristin Renee Young is a lyric coloratura soprano celebrated for her vibrant and captivating performances. This season, she starred as Sophia in Tod Machover’s VALIS at MIT and performed in Matthew Recio's Statues in London. Her 2022-2023 highlights include the role of Lucy in Scott Joplin’s Treemonisha at the Luminato Festival and her debut as Zerbinetta in Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos. Kristin has also graced the stage at the Metropolitan Opera and performed the Queen of the Night in Black Flute. Kristin holds a master’s degree from Boston University and is a certified yoga instructor.

    Colin Aikins, a distinguished tenor from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is currently pursuing a Master of Vocal Performance at the Juilliard School under the guidance of William Burden, supported by the Toulmin Foundation Scholarship. He earned his bachelor's degree from the Curtis Institute of Music, studying with Julia Faulkner of the Chicago Lyric Opera. Praised for his "command and fervor in the voice" (NPR), Colin has debuted as Alfredo in La Traviata with CityLyric Opera. His performances, described as "supernal" and "unforgettable" (Voce di Meche), reflect his ambition to fuse opera’s storied legacy with contemporary artistry.

  • Conductor & Artistic Director

    Daniel Zinn, a Brooklyn-based conductor, impresario, and violinist, is known for his innovative approach to concert production, deeply influenced by his upbringing in a hospitable household. Since graduating from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance in 2015, Zinn has founded several concert series in Israel and New York City. His productions, ranging from large-scale orchestral performances to intimate solo concerts, emphasize creating a welcoming atmosphere for all attendees. Zinn's extensive skills span the entire spectrum of concert production, and he has received prestigious awards, including the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship, for his contributions to the arts.

What to expect?

Join us for our third production of Sunset Opera at the iconic Brooklyn Army Terminal for a light-hearted evening filled with music and laughter. The night unfolds in three acts: a melodic prelude by the FGO Quartet, followed by the enchanting main event with critically acclaimed soprano Kristen Renee Young and tenor Colin Aikins, all under the baton of the renowned Israeli conductor Daniel Zinn.
